Hang Gliding
Mam Tor, which overlooks the Edale Valley from the South, is the major local centre for hand gliding and paragliding. This hill and nearby Rushup Edge have slopes which face north, sorth and east so it is possible to take off from there almost whatever the wind Direction.
Taking off near Mam Tor on any suitable day you can see numerous hang-gliders and paragliders in the air over the southern edge of the Edale Valley.
